Concrete Washout Systems – What Are They? Why Does Your Job Site Need Them?

Posted in

Providing a proper place for washout is one of a concrete contractor’s biggest and most costly concerns once the sediment is poured. Nowadays, we know that a designated concrete washout area with silt fencing is simply not enough to effectively contain the contaminants of concrete in an environmentally friendly manner. Concrete Washout Solutions fully contains concrete washout water in our state-of-the-art concrete washout pans, keeping your job site clean and your site preparation on schedule.

Who Is CWS?

Concrete Washout Solutions is a leading provider of environmentally safe concrete waste disposal services — efficiently collecting and recycling construction concrete washout water and solids.

We provide water-tight concrete washout containers for your job site. When the container is full, our team will then either use our patent-pending CWS Enviro-Vac System to clean out your concrete washout pan — or pick up the full container, replacing it with an empty one. We then take the concrete material to a nearby recycler, where it is processed into road base. We operate in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and the surrounding areas, so give us a call to set up delivery to your job site today.

WHAT IS CONCRETE WASHOUT?

After concrete is poured at a construction site, the chutes of ready-mixed concrete trucks and hoppers of concrete pump trucks must be washed out to remove the remaining concrete before it hardens. Equipment such as wheelbarrows and hand tools also need to be washed down. At the end of each workday, the drums of concrete trucks must be washed out. This is customarily done at the ready mixed batch plants, which are usually off-site facilities, however large or rural construction projects may have on-site batch plants. Cementitious (having the properties of cement) wash water and solids also come from using such construction materials as mortar, plaster, stucco, and grout.  If your job site uses any of these materials, having a concrete washout system in place is imperative to maintaining proper compliance.
